Terra Promessa Farm, located in Tonara (NU) within the inland mountainous area of Sardinia, operates in an area characterized by historic chestnut groves, high biodiversity, and a forest ecosystem of significant environmental value. Founded in 2017 by Debora Castangia as a first-generation agricultural enterprise, it was established with the aim of countering land abandonment and sustainably enhancing the local woodland heritage.

The main production focus is chestnut cultivation, with 7 hectares dedicated to chestnuts and marrons and 1 hectare to walnuts and hazelnuts, managed according to organic principles and agroforestry practices, currently undergoing PEFC certification. The activity is complemented by beekeeping (16 hives) and the breeding of purebred Sardinian donkeys, aimed at preserving biodiversity and native breeds. Marketing is primarily through short supply chains and direct sales.

Alongside primary production, Terra Promessa carries out social farming activities in collaboration with the Municipality of Tonara, promotes educational initiatives with schools and universities, and organizes outreach events on the sustainable management of chestnut groves. The farm also participates in local and national networks, strengthening cooperation among young female farmers and contributing to the promotion of the area.

Terra Promessa represents a model of multifunctional and agroecological agriculture, capable of integrating environmental sustainability, social inclusion, and cultural enhancement, serving as a virtuous example of rural development in an inland mountainous area.
