The company Biotesoro, led by the young entrepreneur Simone Palmieri and located in Policoro (MT), operates in an area with a strong vocation for fruit and vegetable production along the Ionian coast of Basilicata, where climate, soil, and agricultural tradition favor high-quality outputs. Specialized in vegetable and tree crops typical of the territory, produced organically, the company adopts an integrated agroecological approach that combines technological innovation, environmental sustainability, and the promotion of biodiversity.

The utilized agricultural area (UAA) is approximately 13 hectares, and production is managed according to practices that minimize external inputs and support ecological balance. The enterprise employs precision farming technologies, using remotely managed irrigation systems that optimize water use and reduce waste through targeted and efficient interventions. Moreover, it utilizes beneficial insects for pest control, eliminating the need for pesticides and heavy machinery such as tractors and mechanical equipment. The reduction of chemical inputs and the enhancement of biodiversity fully align with agroecological principles, strengthening functional biodiversity, improving soil health, and increasing the overall sustainability of the agricultural system.

Biotesoro also stands out for its ability to establish effective collaborations with research institutions and organizations. Among the most significant projects in which the company is involved are Compare, focused on on-farm composting and the valorisation of farm waste within a circular economy perspective, and All-Organic, aimed at reducing external inputs through the promotion of agrobiodiversity.

In recognition of its commitment, in 2021 the company was selected as a model enterprise for the revival of the Italian economy and awarded the Impresa Vincente prize by Intesa Sanpaolo, an initiative that highlights small and medium-sized Italian enterprises for their contribution to the local and national economy.
